Le Creuset turns 100

Le Creuset is celebrating 100 years of culinary excellence and Think Retail is honoured to pay homage to this iconic global brand, as it marks a century of excellence and gears up for further growth in Canada.

Le Creuset encapsulates timeless beauty that reflects quality and craftmanship. It’s a unique and multi-faceted brand that is at once true to its roots, while incredibly innovative, a combination that has enabled the company to firmly establish its place in both professional kitchens and homes around the globe.

Founded in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, France, Le Creuset has come to represent more than cookware, becoming a symbol of enduring quality, timeless design, and the joy of meals shared with loved ones.

Today, each piece is still meticulously crafted by skilled artisans at the company’s original foundry, bringing to life cookware that transform meals into memorable experiences across generations and across the globe.

It all started with the original Cocotte in Flame—the foundation of the now iconic Round Dutch Oven—with its orange to red gradient, which was the first ever colourful cookware of its kind.

The enamelled cast-iron Dutch Oven adapted with the times and is now offered in an array of beautiful colours, which today define the Le Creuset brand and now extend to a wide range of cookware, bakeware, dinnerware and accessories, from utensils, to textiles and more.

We know that Le Creuset has a special place in the hearts and homes of Canadians. In turn, the company played tribute to this special relationship in 2017 when, in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, Le Creuset introduced a limited-edition Round Dutch Oven with a maple leaf embossment in a vibrant Cerise finish.

Today, Le Creuset has 12 beautiful stand-alone stores in marquee locations across Canada—in a state of constant evolution, the company unveiled its Signature Boutique concept at Montreal's one-of-a-kind Royalmount lifestyle and entertainment hub last year.

Think Retail is thrilled to have worked with the Le Creuset team on numerous openings across the country in recent years, not only at top shopping centres and high streets in Quebec, but also British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Our team is delighted to share that Le Creuset is considering additional expansion in Canada, with a particular focus on super-regional malls in Montreal and Vancouver. Ideal spaces are 1,000 to 1,300 sq. ft.  

We are so fortunate that Le Creuset is a cornerstone of Canada’s rich retail tapestry and we congratulate the company as it celebrates this incredible 100-year milestone.

I encourage you to pick up a piece of history: In April, Le Creuset launched the Flamme Dorée Collection, a limited-edition colourway that reimagines the iconic Flame hue, with a light dusting of golden shimmer. And, just last month, the company debuted its Modern Heritage collection, which draws from the archives to pay tribute to the artistry, quality and enduring style that has shaped Le Creuset for 100 years.
