Chocolatier Jeff de Bruges to open this spring at Carrefour Laval

Good news for sophisticated sweet treat lovers—French chocolatier and ice cream house Jeff de Bruges is to open in May at Carrefour Laval and the plan is to grow more in 2022.
The popular retail concept debuted in Canada in 2014 at Place Montreal Trust and quickly evolved into a destination known for its exquisite Belgian chocolates, ice cream and other decadent treats.
In 2018—in light of Montreal’s $6.3 billion REM public transit project—Jeff de Bruges relocated to the Montreal Eaton Centre, first setting up shop in a temporary pop-up space during the mall’s $200 million redevelopment and, in 2019, moving into a new 750-sq.-ft. store—beautifully branded and totally sophisticated.
That same year, the company opened a 175-sq.-ft. kiosk at Carrefour Industrielle Alliance, the 210,000-sq.-ft. historical building in the heart of Montreal’s pedestrian network.
This newest much-anticipated Carrefour Laval store will be Jeff de Bruges’ third in Canada, as the marquee brand takes over the 900 sq. ft. space vacated by Rocky Mountain Chocolate.
The new store will showcase Jeff de Bruges’ signature industrial chic vibe, with elegant lighting and attractive displays set against a modern turquoise and chocolate-brown palette that’s echoed in all packaging.
The plan is to open one or two more Quebec stores this year, with a particular interest in finding a location on Mont Royal. However, the company is open to both high streets and super regional malls. Ideal spaces are 600 to 1,000 sq. ft.
Jeff de Bruges is an ideal tenant with a strong legacy and proven ability to attract customers. The concept launched in Europe in 1986 and today there more than 500 stores across France, as well as close to 40 international locations in 17 countries.
While the chocolates are imported from Belgium, the ice cream is always locally sourced—here in Quebec, it’s Bilboque.
The timing is ideal. As we emerge from pandemic-related lockdowns, Jeff de Bruges is the indulgent experience that people are craving.  For more about this sophisticated brand and its plans for 2022, contact the Think Retail team.
