Place Tevere Heading to Rideau Centre

Italian fast food specialist Place Tevere confirmed that it will be opening in early August, in the new Dining Hall at Rideau Centre. The premises will be 450 square feet. The new store will be the company’s first location in the nation’s capitol.   

Place Tevere was founded in 1968. Today the company operates 20 restaurants in Ontario and Quebec.

Place Tevere is seeking to open additional locations in Ontario and Quebec. The company’s focus is on super regional shopping centres. Size required is 350-450 square feet.

Further, we’re dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on another new Place Tevere location. We anticipate announcing this new site during the next 60 days. Stay tuned for details.

Rideau Centre is the top performing shopping centre in Ottawa (and ranked #7 in Canada). Sales are approximately $1040 per square foot. Owned by Cadillac Fairview, the property is currently undergoing a $250M re-development which will see the addition of 180,000 square feet of new retail space. Nordstrom has already announced that it will open a 150,000 square foot flagship store on the upper two floors of the former Sears space. In addition, Quebec based Simon has as well, been confirmed. Other new tenants to the project include H&M, Victoria Secret, J Crew…etc. The re-development is scheduled to be completed by fall 2015.

Lole To Open at Toronto Premium Outlets

Ladies active wear specialist Lole has confirmed that it will open its first outlet location at Toronto Premium Outlets. The premises will be approximately 2000 square feet and is strategically locally adjacent other globally recognized brands such as Nike, Gap, Quiksilver, Oakley, Puma…etc. The store is scheduled to open June 1.

Lole is now ramping up its Canadian expansion plan. The company will open at Square One (Ontario’s largest shopping centre) in Mississauga, in early June. Further,  Lole will soon announce the locations of its first two sites in British Columbia. In addition to the above, Lole plans to open a minimum of six (6) Canadian stores during the next 12-18 months. Markets of interests include Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. The company will look at high pedestrian streetfront locations and super regional malls. Size required is 1000-1600 square feet.

Lole also recently unveiled the dates for its 3rd annual White Yoga Tour. The 2013 edition brought together over 10,000 yoga lovers and was extremely inspirational. This year’s tour offers yoga sessions set to live symphony music in major museums around the world. The dates are as follows:

- April 12, 2014 - National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain  
- May 8, 2014 - Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal 
- May 22, 2014 - Museum of Modern Art in New York, USA

International Currency Exchange to Continue Canadian Rollout

International Currency Exchange (ICE) has their sight set on Canada for additional growth. 

The UK based company operates 50+ branches in Canada and has now announced plans to open 8 locations (in the country) during the next 18 months. Targeted markets include Vancouver, Toronto, and Edmonton. Super regional shopping centres are preferred. Requirements are as follows: Kiosks:100 square feet; in-line stores: 100-550 square feet.

ICE was founded in 1973 and is widely regarded as the top currency exchange brand in the world. We worked very closely with Bob Higgins, Fossil’s Vice President of Global Real Estate, to develop and implement Fossil’s Canadian market entry plan. In a short time, I have secured 35+ stores for Fossil throughout Canada. Partially thanks to the strategic locations that I have successfully negotiated, Fossil’s Canadian stores not only continue to perform exceptionally well; they have also greatly exceeded expectations. I am also pleased to announce that in May, Fossil will open on Bloor Street, Canada’s top high street. Further, just last year, the company opened on St.Catherine Street in Montreal. For the past 5 years, I have carried out ladies activewear specialist, Lolë’s, mandates to perfection. I also served as lead negotiator in the company’s restructuring plan 6 years ago and tenaciously negotiated store closures and rent relief efforts, helping Bizou save approximately one (1) million dollars and in the process, many jobs. Bizou Opens First Store in France

March 05, 2014

Earlier this year, fashion accessories specialist Bizou opened its first international location at La Toison For in Dijon, France. The premises is 700 sq.ft and is situated on the mall’s upper level. Neighbouring tenants include Guess, Desigual, Superdry, Pandora, Mango…etc The new store is part of license agreement concluded last year, with french based KBS Retail. Two more openings in the country are scheduled for later this year. 

Bizou has also confirmed that it will open 2 locations in Ontario locations this spring: Place d’Orleans (Ottawa) and Georgetown Marketplace. Additional sites are planned for later in 2014. Further, the company has plans for considerable growth domestically in 2015 & 2-16, where 3-5 new stores are budgeted (per year). Expansion will focus on the following provinces: Ontario, Quebec, and maritime provinces. Size required is 600-900 sq.ft

Bizou was founded in 1982 and is privately owned by Marcel Labrecque. The company currently operates 130 locations.
